Enzo Fernandez had to be restrained when Liverpool fan mocked Chelsea flop

Enzo Fernandez had to be restrained when Liverpool fan mocked Chelsea flop

Enzo Fernandez had to be led away.

Enzo Fernandez was led away by a Chelsea teammate when he was mocked by a Liverpool fan at Wembley.

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has had a tough time of it since joining the club a year ago.

The London club broke the British transfer record when they paid Benfica almost £107 million for the Argentine in 2023, but he has failed to live up to the hype.

Heading into the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, Fernandez - along with Chelsea's fans - was hoping to put some gloss on an otherwise underwhelming season.

Liverpool had other ideas though, as a 118th minute header from Virgil van Dijk clinched the trophy for Jurgen Klopp's side and left Chelsea ruing a missed opportunity.

Chelsea's distraught stars sank to their knees at full-time, and the last thing they needed was to be cruelly mocked as they went to collect their runners-up medals.

That's exactly what happened though when Mauricio Pochettino and his player climbed the steps up to the famous Wembley balcony.

Footage has emerged on social media showing a Liverpool fan mocking Fernandez before getting a reaction out of the player.

As Fernandez trudged up the steps behind Mykhailo Mudryk, the fan shouted "Enzo, unlucky lad," before he started cackling.

Enzo stopped and starred at his tormentor for a second or two, before a teammate ushered him up the steps and away from the potential flash-point.

The fan found the whole incident hilarious, and continued to let out a high-pitched laugh as the World Cup winner walked away.

It wasn't the only incident of Chelsea being mocked for losing to a youthful Liverpool side.

Some fans accused Manchester City of mocking their former star Cole Palmer with an ill-times post on X.

Liverpool youngster Conor Bradley certainly aimed a message at Chelsea full-back Ben Chilwell with his post-match Instagram post.
