Chelsea player who has spent the season on loan doesn't want to go back to the club

A Chelsea star who spent the season out on loan admitted that he doesn't want to return to the club.

Chelsea have endured a season to forget, and are unlikely to play European football next season after spending much of the campaign in mid-table.

That said, Mauricio Pochettino's side have shown signs of improvement in recent months, and now have a chance of sneaking into the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Cole Palmer has led Chelsea's revival, the youngster's 21 Premier League goals this term bettered only by Manchester City's Erling Haaland.

Whether Pochettino is in the dugout next season or not, Chelsea will look to further bolster their squad, particularly in the attacking department.

Todd Boehly has sanctioned spending of over £1billion on transfers since buying of the club in 2022, but Chelsea's attackers have struggled for consistency all season.

One answer to Chelsea's struggles in front of goal could be to integrate youngster Omari Hutchinson into the first-team next season.

The 20-year-old winger has spent the season on loan at Ipswich Town, scoring 11 goals and providing six assists to help the Championship club clinch promotion to the Premier League after 22 years outside the top flight.

Hutchinson scored Ipswich's second goal in a 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town on Saturday that secured the second automatic promotion spot and a second promotion in as many seasons.

Hutchinson made two senior appearances for Chelsea in 2022-23, but it appears that he isn't particularly keen on returning to Stamford Bridge next season.

When asked on Saturday if his plans for next term involve Ipswich, he said: "I hope so. I don't know.

"I'll have to see what my agent is saying and what the manager is saying and then go from there. I don't know. I just want to celebrate at the moment."

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna admitted he has been impressed by Hutchinson.

"He's come into the club with the right application and picked things up really quickly about what it takes to succeed," McKenna said.

"That has endeared him to the senior players right away, and he's built that as the season has gone on.

"He's hitting a good level but he's still really young. It's not going to be a linear journey from here, but he's got really high potential and a really good mentality towards achieving that potential."
