Netflix director reveals main difference between interviewing David and Victoria Beckham for new documentary

There were certain differences.

A Netflix director has revealed the major difference between interviewing David and Victoria Beckham for their new documentary.

The four-part series, titled 'Beckham', was released on Netflix earlier this week.

The documentary centres around David and Victoria's family life, as well as the Manchester United icon's upbringing, football career - including his high-profile moves to Real Madrid and LA Galaxy - and life as franchise owner of Inter Miami.

It has received positive reviews thus far - and even inspired United's late comeback to beat Brentford 2-1 on Saturday.

That's according to midfielder Scott McTominay, scorer of both goals, who explained (quotes via Daily Mirror): "For me, this football club means everything.

"I was watching David Beckham's documentary last night and it's things like that that inspire. [Sir Alex Ferguson] was always looking at his watch like that."

The series spends time examining the highs and lows of Beckham's footballing career, but also focuses on more emotional moments outside of football.

And Fisher Stevens, who directed the documentary, has revealed what it was like interviewing both David and Victoria.

He told The Independent that he had held 10 interview sessions with the former United midfielder, spanning across 30 hours.

Stevens explained: "[Victoria] has a reputation of being kind of tough and sour. She was never like that with me.

"Funny, witty, fast. Unlike David, she was much more used to being reflective.

"David never had therapy. I felt at times like I was his therapist.

"Victoria, as she admits in the film, has had therapy, and was much more used to self-reflection."

David and Victoria have been married since 1999, having met each other two years earlier.

With David one of the top footballers in England with United, and Victoria part of one of the UK's leading pop bands of the time, the Spice Girls, their relationship propelled the pair into becoming even bigger global stars.

But while the documentary is primarily based on their past and present, there is also a look towards the future, with David talking about his future ambitions with Inter Miami.

He states: "[Neymar] will be playing for us one day. I want to win with the best players and the best team."
