Everton supporters paid for a message to be flown over the Etihad stadium during Saturday afternoon's Premier League between Manchester City and Liverpool.
It was confirmed last week that Everton have been deducted 10 points after they were found guilty of breaching financial fair play rules.
The club said they were "shocked and disappointed" by the ruling and would appeal what is the heaviest points punishment in Premier League history.

Sean Dyche's side are now sat in the relegation zone after breaching the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules for the period ending 2021-22.
And there is clearly still ill-feeling in the air amongst fans, as the banner ‘Premier League = corrupt' could be seen over the Etihad during the second-half of Manchester City's clash against Liverpool.
Sky Sports did not show the plane on their coverage of Saturday's game.

In addition to the banner, there will be a protest outside Goodison Park on Sunday ahead of Everton's clash against Manchester United, where banners and cards will be handed out to fans.
Everton supporters have also been encouraged to boo the Premier League anthem before kick-off at Old Trafford.
Dave Kelly, the chair of the Everton Fan Advisory Board, made his feelings clear ahead of this weekend's fixture.
“We will show a worldwide audience on Sunday the Premier League has picked on the wrong club in Everton, and the wrong place in Goodison Park," he said.

"But this is just the first page and first chapter of what will be an extremely long book, we won’t be going anywhere, any time soon - we want to get football back on the straight and narrow, and that means real change at the Premier League."
Kelly added: “We will keep this going all the way through to the end of the appeal against the sanction. And we will go through right to next year on a war footing - with fans from across the country coming together - to fight for change and justice.”
A group of Everton supporters also displayed a 'corrupt' flag outside the Premier League's HQ in London on Friday night as the Toffees fan base continue to protest their 10-point deduction.
