Hannibal Mejbri's Sevilla debut really didn't go to plan, he had a game to forget

Hannibal Mejbri made his Sevilla debut last night.

Hannibal Mejbri played his first game for Sevilla last night following his transfer from Manchester United, but things didn't go to plan.

Hannibal made 10 appearances in all competitions for Man United this season before securing a move away from Old Trafford this month.

Everton were linked with the midfielder until Sevilla sealed his services on loan for the rest of the season, with an option to buy, which is understood to be worth £17.2 million.

And the 21-year-old featured for Sevilla in Sunday's La Liga clash against high-flying Girona.

But he and his new side had a game to forget as Sevilla were destroyed 5-1 at the Estadi Montilivi.

Sevilla took the lead in the 10th minute through Isaac Romero Bernal. But Girona hit back as Artem Dovbyk bagged a quickfire hat-trick, netting in the 13th, 15th and 19th minute of the game.

Viktor Tsyhankov added a fourth for Girona after the break, with Hannibal entering the fray in the 62nd minute.

Just a minute into his Sevilla debut, he was shown a yellow card after committing a rough challenge on Ivan Martin.

Cristhian Stuani made it 5-1 late on as Girona comfortably beat Sevilla.

The debut of Hannibal got Man United fans online talking as they made their feelings clear.

One X user wrote: "Bro is very rough... he makes rash decisions on the pitch that's why Ten Hag benched him a lot a good player but very rough."

A second tweeted: "He is getting bad rep as yello card merchant... needs to channel his aggression better."

A third added; "He has no future in Man Utd tbh. Yellow card merchant."

A fourth said: "This guy can’t be serious man, he has a long way to go in the game."

Another commented: "I really really like Hannibal but he is never gonna make it at the top level with this immaturity."
