James Maddison savagely trolls Trent Alexander-Arnold over Spurs vs Liverpool replay drama

James Maddison savagely trolls Trent Alexander-Arnold over Spurs vs Liverpool replay drama

James Maddison made a light-hearted joke about Trent Alexander-Arnold on social media.

James Maddison savagely trolled Trent Alexander-Arnold over the Tottenham vs Liverpool replay drama on England duty.

Spurs beat Liverpool 2-1 last month as a last-minute Joel Matip own-goal saw the North London side secure a dramatic victory.

But the Premier League fixture was completely marred by a VAR error, which saw officials inexplicably disallow a legitimate Luis Diaz goal.

Jurgen Klopp called for a replay of the match as a result and a second meeting would have been forced if match referee Simon Hooper had overturned the VAR mistake.

Talks of a replay died down, but the PGMOL did introduce new VAR rules for last weekend's games following the controversy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both Spurs and Liverpool have been in league action since their controversial encounter, with Ange Postecoglou's side beating Luton to move top of the league while the Reds drew 2-2 at Brighton, which had more VAR controversy.

The international break has seen Spurs and Liverpool players meet up, with Maddison and Alexander-Arnold named in the England squad for their upcoming games.

And ahead of England vs Australia on Friday, the Spurs star aimed a brutal dig at his international colleague.

He posted a picture of himself looking up to the Liverpool man, who appears to be remonstrating in the image, accompanied with the caption: "Still asking for a replay."

A joke in good faith as Maddison put the sleep, laughing face and heart emojis with the message.

Maddison and Alexander-Arnold are in contention to play in England's friendly against Australia at Wembley Stadium.

The Three Lions also host Italy in a Euro 2024 qualifier on October 17.
