Jose Mourinho aims brutal dig at Roma owners in fiery first interview since his sacking

Jose Mourinho has aimed another dig at Roma after being sacked last month.

Jose Mourinho has aimed a brutal jibe at Roma's owners after being sacked by the club last month.

Mourinho was relieved of his duties after two-and-a-half years in the job, following a poor run of form.

The Portuguese manager had guided Roma to a first trophy in 14 years by taking them to the Conference League in 2022.

But after four defeats in seven games left them in ninth place in Serie A, the board became unhappy with the lack of progress made and elected to replace him with Daniele De Rossi.

Mourinho has already been linked with a whole host of jobs and has now spoken for the first time since being given the boot.

And in typical fashion, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss couldn't help but throw shade at his ex employers.

He told Football.com: "I'll be back. I won’t be there for the final stages of the season, not because I’ve been eliminated before, but because I’ve been 'eliminated' by someone who has little knowledge of football.”

Mourinho's comments would appear to be in relation to Dan and Ryan Friedkin, who told him they had decided to part company.

Mourinho hasn't exactly exited the Serie A club quietly, after reports claimed he he had a parting dig at the squad.

Italian reports Mourinho returned the ring Roma players got him to commemorate the Conference League triumph which secured him a fifth European title.

He decided to leave it in the locker of captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, but a further update stated that Mourinho also placed a nine-word note, which read: "When you are men, give it back to me".

Roma are currently sixth in the league after four wins from five games under new manager De Rossi.

They take on Feyenoord in a Conference League final rematch in their next Europa League fixture.

Mourinho has been touted as a potential replacement for Xavi Hernandez at Barcelona, though sporting director Deco has denied any contact.
