Full breakdown of how coaches, captains, media and fans voted in FIFA Best Awards as Lionel Messi wins

FIFA have leaked the full breakdown of voting at The Best FIFA Awards 2023 and Lionel Messi looks set for victory.

The great and good of world football past and present descended on London on Monday evening for The Best FIFA Awards 2023.

The award for the best male player in the world is decided by four different voting groups: coaches, captains, journalists, and fans. Each group counted for 25 per cent of the total vote, irrespective of the number of voters from each group.

Figures published on FIFA's website show that Messi won the public and national team captains vote, but that Haaland received more votes from journalists and coaches. The duo are level on overall points.

The graphic shows Messi first in the rankings, suggesting that he won the tie-breaker of receiving the most first-choice selections.
