Lionel Messi names his 10 favourite team-mates throughout his career

Barcelona and Argentina legend Lionel Messi has named his 10 'favourite' team-mates from throughout his football career.

Messi started his professional career at Barca, where he scored an astonishing 672 goals in 778 appearances and established himself as one of the greatest footballers of all time.

A two-year spell at PSG then followed, during which time the forward finally captured the one accolade that had so far eluded him - the World Cup.

Now at Inter Miami, Messi is embarking on a new chapter in MLS alongside former Barca team-mates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Recently, he named his favourite team-mates he has played with throughout his footballing career in an interview with Titan Sports - and it is a who's who of football icons.

Messi began by naming none other than Ronaldinho, the pioneer of several iconic skill moves and, of course, one of Barcelona's star players during the mid-2000s.

He then reeled off several other Barca icons, including Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Samuel Eto'o - as well with every player on the list having represented Les Cules at the same time as the Argentinian.

Messi stated (quotes via Daily Mirror): "Like Ronaldinho, Deco, Eto'o, [Luis] Suarez, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets.

"I was lucky enough to play with the best players and enjoy the game with them. Speaking of which I almost forgot about Neymar because there are so many people."

With eight names already listed, Messi then added another two players into the mix.

"There must be many players I forgot to mention," he said.

"I've been lucky enough to play with the best players, with the best strikers. Like Neymar, Eto'o, Suarez, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [David Villa], and many more.

"I've been comfortable playing with all of them, or almost all of them, because I've been lucky enough to play with the best of them... playing with them is easy."

Messi will now hope to forge some strong partnerships with Inter Miami players as he looks to guide them up the MLS Eastern Conference table.

The 36-year-old has three goals and an assist in two Leagues Cup matches for his new team, but the side are bottom of the Eastern Conference with the worst record of any team in the MLS in 2023.
