Jurgen Klopp hits back at Amazon Prime presenter after taking question about his team the wrong way

Jurgen Klopp hits back at Amazon Prime presenter after taking question about his team the wrong way

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gave a frosty response to Amazon Prime presenter Dan Walker.

Jurgen Klopp was involved in a frosty interaction with Amazon Prime presenter Dan Walker following Liverpool's 2-0 win over Burnley.

The in-form Reds leapfrogged Arsenal to go top of the Premier League on Tuesday night as goals from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota sealed all three points at Turf Moor.

Liverpool dominated for large spells against Vincent Kompany's side but they struggled to put the game to bed.

After the full-time whistle, Jurgen Klopp spoke to broadcaster Amazon Prime about a number of subjects, including the front three of Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.

Dan Walker, who was presenting the coverage on Tuesday evening, asked about Klopp's decision to pick Nunez, Gakpo and Salah, but also pointed out Liverpool's reliance on the latter.

He asked: “Can I ask you a little bit about your front three? Because obviously a lot of dependence on Mo Salah with goals and assists as well, but Nunez and Gakpo, playing in a front three that they haven’t started together this season up top."

Klopp, who appeared taken aback by the question, soon replied: “I don’t know… it’s just about… I said it the other day in the press conference, I understand you have to talk every day about football and stuff like this but we are second in the table.

"We are in a better position than probably everybody expected us to be, then we start this front three and they’re not all firing and stuff like that… come on! There are more serious problems out there in general.”

Walker explained that Klopp had taken his question the wrong way.

“I am not trying to catch you out, I am actually interested," he said. "You talk about other people talking about Liverpool, how do you look at Liverpool?

"Because you’re better off than last season as you say, a win today and you go top for at least 48 hours. You must be in a pretty good position in a personal point of view.”

Klopp burst into laughter and replied: “Oh! You think about my personal situation? Thank you, oh my god!"

He added: "No I am not happy, I am OK with the situation. We are where we are, if you watched the games we could have more points. We were lucky in a few moments and were we unlucky in a few more moments?"

Klopp would later praise his squad for a "really pleasing" first-half performance against Burnley.

"I really liked the game we played, but we should have scored more and that’s clear.," he said. "Then the game stays open and Burnley have massive chances to score [at] the second post – maybe even the first they had, if I am right: the finish when he mishits the ball.

"I am pretty sure that was the first chance [for them], but in the end we deserved to win the game and it was two perfect goalscorers, I would say, with Darwin and then Diogo."

Liverpool will be hoping to secure another three points when they host out-of-form Newcastle on January 1.
