Six players ruled out after Darwin Nunez concern as Liverpool squad vs Arsenal revealed

Six players ruled out after Darwin Nunez concern as Liverpool squad vs Arsenal revealed

Klopp will have to make do without six players.

Liverpool will be without six players for their trip to Arsenal on Sunday following concerns over the fitness of Darwin Nunez.

Jurgen Klopp's side will take on the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon looking to strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table.

Victory would put Liverpool eight points ahead of title challengers Arsenal and Manchester City, although latter will have two games in hand.

Liverpool have have won four consecutive Premier League matches since drawing 1-1 with Mikel Arteta's side at Anfield on December 23, including impressive wins against Newcastle and Chelsea.

The inspired form of Darwin Nunez has been one of the factors behind Liverpool's strong run in recent weeks.

The Uruguayan striker took time to find his feet at Anfield following a £85 million move from Benfica in 2022, but last month he became the first Premier League player of the season to reach double figures for both goals and assists in all competitions.

On Wednesday the 24-year-old took his tally to 11 apiece with an assist during Liverpool's thumping 4-1 win against Chelsea, but for it looked like his contribution had come at some cost.

Nunez was spotted leaving Anfield wearing a protective boot, placing his participation in Sunday's clash with Arsenal in serious doubt.

To the great relief of Liverpool fans, Nunez participated in full team training on Friday and is expected to feature in North London.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo Klopp will still be without six first team players.

Thiago Alcantara, Kostas Tsimkas and Stefan Bajcetic are all nearing returns to action following injury issues, but are not expected to be involved.

Wataru Endo will soon return to Merseyside after Japan were knocked out of the Asian Cup on Saturday at the hands of Iran, but Sunday's match will come too soon for him.

Defender Joel Matip (ACL) and winger Ben Doak (knee) remain long-term injury absentees.

Having overcome an injury scare, Nunez will look to score or assist for a fifth Premier League game in a row to boost Liverpool's title hopes and potentially end Arsenal's.
