Dominik Szoboszlai aims dig at former Liverpool players as he sets out aims for the season

Dominik Szoboszlai joined Liverpool during the summer transfer window

Dominik Szoboszlai has appeared to aim a subtle dig at some former Liverpool players during a recent interview.

During the summer transfer window. Szoboszlai joined the Anfield club from German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig after Liverpool triggered his release clause.

Since arriving at Liverpool, the Hungarian has already won over the Anfield faithful with his performances.

Now, the 23-year-old has appeared to aim a cheeky dig at some former Liverpool players by revealing problems which could have impacted the team in the past.

Szoboszlai told journalist Ben Bocsak during an appearance on the Premier Leak podcast: “Everyone wants to get into the starting XI, that’s normal and that’s how it should be, the goal in every team.

“Who is satisfied with sitting on the bench? I’m going to be honest, there are a few. Actually, before I came here there were some [at Liverpool] as well.”

He continued: “I won’t name names, but I heard about it. Personally, I want to play in every game, even if I’m a bit tired.

“Anything, whether it’s the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League, Premier League, national team, anything.”

As he approaches his 250th senior appearance, Szoboszlai spoke about his fitness.

He said: “I'm in a good condition when I’m constantly needed. I’m in the best condition when I can play on Thursday and Sunday.

“Because then there’s no training, recovery, concentration, match, recovery, match, and this goes on and on, and this is perfect for me.”

Szoboszlai and Liverpool will return to Premier League action on Sunday as they travel to Kenilworth Road to take on newly promoted Luton Town.
