Liverpool players send emotional messages to Jordan Henderson after Al Ettifaq transfer

Liverpool players send emotional messages to Jordan Henderson after Al Ettifaq transfer

Jordan Henderson has left Liverpool for Saudi Arabia

The Liverpool players have come together to send Jordan Henderson emotional farewell messages after his move to Al Ettifaq was confirmed.

After weeks of speculation, it was confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Henderson has completed his move to Saudi Professional League side Al Ettifaq.

On the back of the news, a video of the Liverpool squad saying goodbye to Henderson was posted on social media. You can watch the footage below.

Trent Alexander-Arnold said: “Hendo, I just wanted to say a massive thank you first and foremost for everything really.

“You were probably the player who welcomed me and helped me feel at home.”

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker added: “Since I arrived here, you opened your arms and received me as I was your little brother.”

Full back Andy Robertson said: “Since the minute I came in you’ve looked after me.

“Giving me your house to rent at the start when I didn’t know where to go, I didn’t know what I needed and things like that.”

Vrigil van Dijk, who is expected to be named new Liverpool captain also paid tribute to the midfielder.

He said: “You helped me a lot in the beginning, convinced me why I should join your team so that was very helpful and big part of why I wanted to come as well.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp did his own video to pay tribute to his captain.

Klopp said: “We will miss you, you know that. You will miss us, I know that. But it’s life.

“It’s not forever, it is just a goodbye. It’s wishing good luck, you wished it to us and we wish it to you.”

He added: “If nobody told you yet, I will tell you now. You are a legend.

“Thank you, see you soon. And don’t forget, you’ll never walk alone.”

Liverpool are said to be interested in Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia as they look for Henderson's replacement ahead of the 23/24 season.
