Secret tactic managers use to stop Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp intimidating rival players revealed

Klopp does the same thing every game.

West Ham manager David Moyes has shown his peers exactly how to stop Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp intimidating their players.

There are few teams around that get the better of Klopp's Liverpool on the pitch.

Over the last nine years Klopp has built a relentless attacking machine, one that has one the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

It's so difficult to beat Liverpool that opposition managers have to try and find any small advantage they possibly can. Now, it appears that David Moyes has.

In the latest episode of Stick to Football, brought to you by Sky Bet, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher revealed the tactic managers have resorted to to try and disrupt Klopp's pre-match intimidation techniques.

"I remember in an interview Jürgen Klopp got asked about why he stares at the opposition during the warm up, and he said it wasn’t to be intimidating, it was to see what they were doing," Carragher said.

"I don’t believe that, but he said something about playing Borussia Dortmund in his first season at Liverpool in the Europa League, and I’m sure he said that he does that to let the opposition know that I’m the Liverpool manager and that I wasn’t at Dortmund anymore.

"What I have seen is other managers, whether they’ve got a good relationship with him, go and speak to him – I’ve seen David Moyes do it a lot – and I think that’s actually quite a clever thing to do.

"I’m joining him, and we’re having a little chat, so he’s not actually looking at our team. I don’t know if he actually gets on with him well, but I’ve seen Moyes do it a couple of times and I have looked at it and thought - I think that’s what I’d do if I was a manger, I would go and speak to him - to make sure the players don’t almost feel like Klopp has got his eyes on them."

Unfortunately for Moyes, his tactic hasn't really helped his side on the pitch. The Scottish coach has faced Klopp in the dugout on 13 times, but has emerged victorious just once.

That match was a 3-2 win for West Ham against Liverpool on November 7, 2021.
