Jurgen Klopp calls Fulham star 'one of the greatest' Premier League players of all time

Jurgen Klopp calls Fulham star 'one of the greatest' Premier League players of all time

This is high praise indeed.

Jurgen Klopp has heaped praise on one Fulham player in the lead-up to Liverpool's Premier League clash against the Cottagers on Sunday.

The Reds host Marco Silva's side at Anfield as they seek to put pressure on Manchester City and Arsenal ahead of them.

13 points separate the two sides in the league table but Klopp is prepared for a tough challenge at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool got the better of Fulham 1-0 last time out at Anfield, while the previous fixture in west London finished 2-2. And Klopp is expecting another tight contest this time out.

Speaking ahead of the game, the German told reporters (via the Daily Mail): "Marco is a top manager, he’s doing a brilliant job in a strong league, I’m not saying they are overachieving but they are doing particularly well and it’s a really good football team.

"It’s just a good football team, well set up and it makes it special, and their little stadium there, they can create a proper atmosphere and we’ve had our struggles there."

Klopp then named a number of key first team players for Fulham, including 'one of the greatest' in Premier League history.

He added: "With [Raul] Jimenez up front, [Carlos] Vinicius, and then one of the greatest, the little curly one [Willian], one of the greatest the Premier League ever saw, who is still going and going and going and [Andreas] Pereira."

Willian experienced a hugely successful seven seasons at Chelsea, winning the Premier League twice, along with the FA cup and League Cup.

The Brazilian was linked with a move to Liverpool in 2020, but ended up moving to Arsenal, where he lasted just one season after failing to impress.

After a spell away with Corinthians, Willian returned to the Premier League where he has rediscovered some of his best form at Fulham.

Most recently, the 35-year-old scored a clutch brace against Wolves to win 3-2.
