Liverpool player ratings: Darwin Nunez nets brace, Luis Diaz stars and Ben Doak steps up vs Furth

Here are the player ratings.

Liverpool drew 4-4 to Greuther Furth in a frenetic pre-season friendly.

The Reds concluded their pre-season training camp in Germany with a behind-closed-doors friendly against second-tier opposition Furth.

It was Liverpool’s final game before heading off to Singapore, where they will face Bayern Munich and Leicester.

Against Furth Klopp named Alexis Mac Allister in his starting line-up for the very first time while 17-year-old attacker Ben Doak also started. Unfortunately, £60million signing Dominik Szoboszlai missed out through injury.

Here is how Klopp’s men fared in the pre-season encounter.

First half

Alisson Becker - 6

A relatively quiet half, but in moments the Brazilian was able to display his good distribution.

Conor Bradley - 6

Looked solid galloping up and down the flank, while he even moved into midfield on occasion.

Ibrahima Konate - 5

A solid 45 minutes other than one moment when he gave away a poor free-kick that Furth failed to capitalise on.

Virgil Van Dijk - 6

The Liverpool skipper had a solid if uneventful first half.

Andy Robertson - 5

Looked rusty, giving away a clumsy foul on the halfway line which would have received a yellow card in a competitive match. Moreover, his passing was at its usual high standard.

Trent Alexander-Arnold - 6

Often the focal point of Liverpool’s attacks, operating slightly in midfield slightly behind Cody Gakpo and Mac Allister.

Alexis Mac Allister - 6

A tidy display where he displayed good physicality to get across the pitch.

Cody Gakpo - 7

An energetic performance from the Dutchman, who had a fierce effort deflected over the bar after half an hour.

Ben Doak - 8

Doak showed why he is the talk of the Reds academy, constantly providing a threat on the right flank. He linked up with Bradley well.

Luis Diaz - 8

Diaz was another player who caused the Furth defence constant problems, while he took his goal well.

Diogo Jota - 6

Linked up well with Gakpo and Diaz, and had an attempt strike the post. However, the Portugal international also squandered a relatively easy chance mid-way through the half.

Second half

Adrian - 5

Minutes into the first-half, the Spaniard played a poor pass into an under-pressure James McConnell, who was dispossessed, allowing Furth to score the equaliser. He made up for it ten minutes later, making a brilliant point-blank save to stop Furth from making it 2-2. However conceding four goals in one half is not ideal.

Joe Gomez - 5

Gomez was not at his best defensively. He could have done far better to block Furth’s third goal while he was also slow to react for the fourth. Looked lively in the few moments he went forward however.

Joel Matip - 5

Was dispossessed in the box for Furth’s second goal, but in fairness, the goal should have been ruled out for off-side. Joel Matip generally looked ponderous in possession.

Jarell Quansah - 5

Looked decent on the ball. Jarell Quansah played a brilliant pass over the top for Mo Salah, who should have done better. Yet in a moment of carelessness, he played a back pass which was illegally gathered by his goalkeeper, though the referee waved Furth’s protests away.

Kostas Tsimikas - 4

Had a topsy-turvy half, in which his passing was inconsistent and he made a poor challenge that would have seen him receive a yellow card in a normal game. Was slow to close down the Furth attacker for the fourth goal,

James McConnell - 5

McConnell was dispossessed for Furth’s opener, but a large portion of the blame should be attributed to Adrian, for passing the youngster into trouble. Generally the game passed him by.

Harvey Elliott - 6

Knitted together a lot of Liverpool’s good play through the middle of the park. He also looks to have bulked up in his weeks off.

Curtis Jones - 6

Tried to keep the ball ticking in the middle of the half. Only lasted half an hour, having just returned from his holiday.

Lewis Koumas - 6

In moments Lewis Koumas showed plenty of courage and pace down the left-hand side. Midway through the half he had a strike from an awkward angle that went behind for a goal kick.

Darwin Nunez - 8

A great cameo, where he displayed how threatening a forward he can be. Nunez took his first goal well, keeping his composure to round the keeper and pass into an empty net. For his second he ran onto a looped Salah pass, cut back inside the defender and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Nunez then provided an assist for his Egyptian team-mate, and was denied a hat-trick at the death, after the keeper made an exceptional save from the 24-year-old's header.

Mo Salah - 7

Salah played a brilliant pass to Nunez to claim an assist within minutes of being on the pitch, while he set up the Uruguay international to score once more moments later. Nunez returned the favour at the death, firing the ball across the box for Salah to score and make it 4-4.

Missed a great chance to make it 3-1 earlier in the half, curling a ball over the bar with just the keeper to beat.

Calum Scanlon - 5

Came on for Harvey Elliot with 15 minutes to go. His most notable contribution was following through with a slide tackle on the keeper.

Bobby Clark - 5

Came on with 15 minutes left but struggled to impose himself on a frenetic game.
