Thiago Alcantara is yet to feature for Liverpool this season

The amount Thiago Alcantara has earned since he last played for Liverpool will stun fans.

Back in the summer of 2020, Liverpool brought in Thiago from German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich for a deal worth a reported fee of £25 million.

Since then, Thiago has made 97 appearances across all competitions, scoring three times.

The Spaniard has also lifted the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield.

However, throughout his time at Anfield, Thiago has suffered multiple injury problems which have limited the midfielder’s game time.

Thiago last played for Liverpool back in April 2023, when he came on for a 30-minute cameo during a 2-1 win at the London Stadium against West Ham United.

Since then, Thiago has been out injured and has earned a huge amount.

The 32-year-old is one of the club’s highest earners, according to Sportrac, Thiago takes home £200,000 per week.

Only two players have a higher salary than Thiago, captain Virgil van Dijk reportedly earns £220,000 per week and talisman Mohamed Salah is on £350,000 a week.

As a result, since Thiago last kicked a football for Liverpool, he has earned approximately £7.2 million.

Speaking about Thiago’s absence, Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders said: “We miss Thiago, we really miss him.

“Can you imagine our midfield, our new players everybody is speaking about, then you have Thiago in the middle as well? Guiding the others, the experience, the way he passes, the way he moves. Everything.”

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said back in November: “We can’t wait, to be honest, to have him back. The player is just exceptional.

“I understand that you ask, but we can’t now have a week-by-week update, because that will not change a lot in this moment.”

Liverpool are back in Premier League action this weekend as they travel to the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
