Jack Grealish’s mum always asks the same question about the Manchester City star’s career.

Grealish came on from the bench as City played out a tense 0-0 draw against title rivals Arsenal at the Etihad on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool came from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 and reclaim top spot in the three-way fight for the Premier League title.

After the City game, Grealish spoke of the treatment he is frequently subjected to from opposition fans.

Grealish, who is often booed by away supporters, admitted he has never understood why he is the subject of such treatment.

The City winger said, via Fabrizio Romano: “I always wonder - Why do the opposition fans boo me? My mum always asks about it as well!

“But I don’t actually know. At every away ground I go to, I get booed and I’m not entirely sure why. I just try to take it as a positive or compliment.”

In the past Grealish admitted that he perceived opposition supporters’ boos as “banter”.

Speaking in January 2023 he said: “It's nice isn't it, when the fans are giving you stick? At the end of the day it's all banter, isn't it? They give us a lot of stick, so you've got to give it back it's all a laugh isn't it?

“I've been there when I've been on the home team and the home fans are giving one of the away players a bit of stick so it's all fun and games. I like it.”

Having just returned from injury, Grealish came on as a 61st-minute substitute against City. He embarked on several scampering runs down the left flank, but was unable to conjure up a winner.

After the game, City manager Guardiola seemed frustrated by the England international’s half-hour cameo.

The City boss stomped onto the pitch at full time and was spotted frantically gesticulating while speaking to Grealish.

Following the 20-second dressing down, the Spaniard went on to ruffle the player's famous barnet.
