Pep Guardiola 'will speak to Puma' after Man Utd winger makes controversial claim about Man City kits

Pep Guardiola 'will speak to Puma' after Man Utd winger makes controversial claim about Man City kits

The Spaniard has responded to the United winger.

Pep Guardiola has joked he will speak to Puma after Facundo Pellistri made a brutal dig about Manchester City's kits.

The highly anticipated Manchester derby takes place this weekend, as Erik ten Hag looks to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League.

In the lead-up to the heavyweight clash, United winger Pellistri angered rival supporters when he claimed that he never sees any sky blue shirts in Manchester.

Speaking on a Uruguayan radio station, Carve Deportiva, the Uruguayan said: “Manchester is all about United. You don’t see City shirts or flags.

"Sometimes, with my girlfriend, we go out and say let’s try to find one and we don’t see them.”

Guardiola has since responded to Pellistri, and has taken the 21-year-old's comments with a pinch of salt, joking that he will speak to the club's kit suppliers about the lack of shirts. You can watch the clip below.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Guardiola was clearly unfazed by Pellistri's comments, quipping: "I will speak with the Puma department and see what happened, why we don't have shirts.

"It's okay. if this guy and his girlfriend believe that, it's fine."

However, his comments won't gone down well with City supporters, who will be desperate to silence Pellistri with a dominant display at Old Trafford.

In truth, the reigning Premier League champions haven't quite clicked into gear so far this season, losing three out off our games in all competitions prior to the international break.

However, consecutive wins against Brighton and Young Boys will help build their confidence, having dominated this famous fixture in recent years.

Meanwhile, a win will see City go top of the Premier League table should both Arsenal or Tottenham fail to record a victory.

Last time the two sides met at Old Trafford, the Red Devils recorded a 2-1 victory over their bitter rivals, with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford enough to cancel out Jack Grealish's opener.
