Alejandro Garnacho proved he has that dog in him with monstrous recovery run after being tackled

Alejandro Garnacho delivered an impressive showing in Manchester United's win over Crystal Palace.

Alejandro Garnacho showed his incredible tenacity as he lost the ball and immediately tracked back in a great show of desire.

Garnacho starred as Manchester United began their Carabao Cup defence with a convincing 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

He opened the scoring in the 21st minute, with Casemiro and Anthony Martial also getting on the score-sheet.

The Argentine winger was praised for 'setting the standard' of Man United with a bursting run as he tracked back alongside Hannibal Mejbri.

Garnacho was also singled out for his brilliant moment in the second-half, where he got up after being tackled before sprinting to retrieve the ball.

In the 59th minute, he appeared to get the better of Chris Richards before being intercepted, falling to the floor.

But he rose to his feet and chased the ball down then pressed Richards, with Sofyan Amrabat closing down the Palace defender as he enjoyed a stunning full debut.

Man United fans in attendance appreciated Garnacho's endeavour as they applauded his work-rate.

Despite the 19-year-old's impressive showing, Erik ten Hag fired a warning to the budding starlet after the game.

"You have seen, at the start of the season we played them. His contribution was not good enough," he said.

"He had some good actions. You see he is always a threat in a game, even when he is not playing well.

"He has to learn when he does his job and he is defending, he will always have his moment and he will always be decisive, because he has great qualities."

The Dutch boss added: "It is not only off the ball. I want to see him entering the box and finishing. I think it is quite normal for a player of this age to have lots of space for improvement, but I like him.

"But we have to demand him and push him. He can get to a very high level, but he needs to show it every day."
