Anthony Martial involved in 'bust-up with Man Utd teammate' before latest Erik ten Hag row

Anthony Martial involved in 'bust-up with Man Utd teammate' before latest Erik ten Hag row

It is not the first time the Frenchman has got into trouble.

Anthony Martial was involved in bust-up with one Manchester United teammate long before his row with Erik ten Hag.

The Red Devils boss could be seen exchanging words with the Frenchman from the touchline during United's clash with Newcastle on Saturday, which ended in a 1-0 defeat.

Martial made a half-hearted effort to track Fabian Schar's run from deep, prompting a furious reaction from his manager.

After the full-time whistle, Ten Hag opened up on the incident involving the 27-year-old, admitting his touchline antics were directed at the whole team as opposed to Martial.

"It's not about Anthony Martial, it's about the team," he said via the Manchester Evening News. "I try to energise the team and try to get a reaction from the team in this moment.

"As you see, we had a tough period and when you're coaching you are a little more aggressive, so that's normal."

However, it is not the first time Martial has been involved in a heated row.

Last season, the forward was reportedly part of a training ground bust-up with academy product Dan Gore.

At the time of the Qatar World Cup, a number of youth players from the academy were drafted in to make up the numbers during training, including 18-year-old Gore.

Each player was instructed not to challenge first-team players in an attempt to prevent any unwanted injuries.

However, Gore did not heed his manager's warning, clattering into Martial and sparking an angry confrontation between the pair, claim The Mirror.

Martial is said to have lashed out in response, but the teenager stood his ground, with the pair needing to be separated before training was suspended.

United host Chelsea next in the Premier League and it remains to be seen whether Martial will be given another start, as new signing Rasmus Hojlund's wait for his first Premier League goal goes on.
