Ben Foster reveals details about 'secret' website only Nike athletes can access, it's the dream

Former Manchester United and West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster has given a fascinating insight into the "secret" website only Nike athletes can access.

The 40-year-old, who announced his decision to retire from professional football last year following a short spell at Wrexham, spoke about the website on a recent episode of his Fozcast podcast.

Foster was initially asked how his relationship with Nike worked during a 23-year career that featured spells at Birmingham and Watford.

But that conversation soon turned to the so-called "secret" that requires a login and password to enter.

The former goalkeeper opened up on working with Nike, saying: "You all get given a rep. Normally, it's somebody that would look after the football club, so that one guy would come in once every month, or when there's new releases."

Foster added: "He would go around all the Nike athletes and would basically show them the new boot, showing them what's coming up and asking if they need anything."

The former Manchester United shot-stopper said his teammates would "pile in" and ask for a "shed load" of Nike products, including trainers and boots, and the rep would use a notepad to record individual requests.

That being said, technology has changed the process, especially in more recent years.

"It's all changed now though," Foster added. "There is a secret website for Nike athletes, where they will have a login and password. They can go on and basically just order what they want.

"They've all got an account which will be credited with a load of money and they just get to dig in. It's pretty cool, to be fair."

As mentioned earlier, Foster announced his retirement from professional football last year.

Speaking about his decision to call time on his career, he said: "The honest truth is that my performances this season haven’t reached the level I demand of myself and I feel that now is the right time to retire.

"At the forefront of my mind when making this decision, was not only what was best for me but also the Club, and making the decision now gives the Club every opportunity to assess their options before the window closes.

"Wrexham will always have a special place in my heart."
