Manchester United ask for loan deal for Monaco midfielder after Sofyan Amrabat frustration

Manchester United ask for loan deal for Monaco midfielder after Sofyan Amrabat frustration

Manchester United enquired about a loan deal for Youssouf Fofana.

Manchester United have reportedly asked for a surprise loan deal heading into the transfer deadline day.

Erik ten Hag still wants to add to his squad and is looking for further incomings before the window slams shut at 11pm on Friday.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils enquired about a loan offer for Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana.

The deal would be to take the France international for a season with an option to buy.

Champions League finalists Inter Milan also submitted the very same proposal but Monaco have turned down both approaches and do not wish to let the player leave on loan.

Sofyan Amrabat has been a top midfield target for United, who proposed a €2 million loan fee that would be split in half, with the Red Devils only needing to pay €1 million before January and a break clause being inserted.

However, that was knocked back by Fiorentina, who are believed to prefer a permanent sale or loan with obligation to buy.

Amrabat has also reportedly attracted interest from Fulham, who are looking to make a late move for him.

Fofana has played 141 times for Monaco and played in six of France's seven games as they reached the World Cup final in Qatar back in December.

United could be one of the busiest teams on deadline day and also look set to confirm the loan signing of Sergio Reguilon from Spurs.

The deal comes as a result of left-back Luke Shaw suffering an injury that will sideline him for a considerable period.

Chelsea's Marc Cucurella was a target but United were put off after he appeared in the Blues' Carabao Cup win over AFC Wimbledon.
