Bruno Fernandes calls for major rule change in football following controversial moment in Man United vs Liverpool

Bruno Fernandes calls for major rule change in football following controversial moment in Man United vs Liverpool

Bruno Fernandes wants action to be taken following Manchester United's FA Cup win over Liverpool.

Bruno Fernandes has called for a major rule in football following a controversial moment in Manchester United's win over Liverpool.

Man United beat Liverpool 4-3 in dramatic fashion to book their spot in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Amad Diallo scored a goal deep, deep into stoppage time to secure a famous victory at Old Trafford.

Amad's outing, however, was marred by his sending off after picking up two yellow cards.

The 21-year-old was already on a caution when he removed his shirt after his last-minute heroics.

Match referee John Brooks subsequently sent off the Red Devils winger immediately after his strike.

Fernandes wants football authorities to scrap the rule about getting booked for taking your shirt off.

He believes it doesn't warrant a yellow card as he referenced Amad's goal against Liverpool in the 121st minute.

"It’s part of the moment and part of being young," he explained.

"This moment has to be enjoyed and I think it’s one of the rules football has to change, because you should be able to celebrate the goal, obviously with respect to other clubs, to enjoy your moment."

On Amad, the Man United captain added: "The thing with Amad, he got his reward because he’s doing the right things.

"When you do the right things, you get a chance, and what is yours comes to you. He deserves it."

The Red Devils dominated the opening stages of the FA Cup tie, taking the lead in the 10th minute.

And the Portuguese believes the first 30 minutes were some of the best football his side have played this season.

"The first 30 minutes were probably one of the best 30 minutes we have had all season," he said.

"We know it’s difficult to do it for 90 minutes against a team like Liverpool, but we could have done it better for a long spell in the game.

"Still, the belief in the team, coming back from bad moments has always been there, even more this season because we had a lot of ups and downs.

"This is a game you win or lose - you’re in or out. It’s a different competition."
