What Erik ten Hag told Man United players moments before Scott McTominay scored

What Erik ten Hag told Man United players moments before Scott McTominay scored

The United boss gave his side a team talk midway through the first half of their win at Bramall Lane.

Erik ten Hag gave his Manchester United players a team talk shortly before they opened the scoring against Sheffield United.

United led in Yorkshire thanks to Scott McTominay's opener, before the midfielder gave away a penalty which Oli McBurnie duly converted to ensure the Blades went in level at the break.

Ten Hag's side were on top for much of the second half and looked the more likely one to score, going close when Sofyan Amrabat rattled the woodwork.

The Old Trafford outfit eventually got back in front thanks to Portuguese defender Dalot's curling effort from outside the box, which secured all three points at Bramall Lane.

But eagle-eyed fans would have spotted an intriguing moment between Ten Hag and his players just over 20 minutes into the clash, when United goalkeeper Andre Onana required medical treatment.

It led to a break in play in the top flight clash and gave United boss Ten Hag an opportunity to speak to his players after watching his side start poorly against the newly promoted side.

The team talk clearly helped, as United went in front through McTominay's strike just minutes later.

Matchwinner Dalot has now revealed what the United boss told his players during the break in play.

As per the Manchester Evening News, Dalot said: "It was a good opportunity for us to adapt a little bit because we were not in the right positions, especially without the ball, we had to sort it out quickly. I think we did that straightaway after he called us over.

"This is the type of opportunity that we have to take, sometimes during the game it’s difficult for the manager to get to 11 players but unfortunately with Andre going down we found a way to speak to him."
