Man Utd linked with ANOTHER former Erik ten Hag player hours after Jadon Sancho exit

Man Utd linked with ANOTHER former Erik ten Hag player hours after Jadon Sancho exit

Ten Hag enjoys working with previous players.

Manchester United have been linked with another player previously managed by Erik ten Hag as the club plans this summer's transfer window.

United have struggled in front of goal this season and are among the Premier League's lowest scorers.

Scott McTominay has netted the most from midfield with five, highlighting issues in the Red Devils frontline.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have scored three goals each, while Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial have one.

Antony, Amad and Facundo Pellistri are yet to open their accounts for the campaign.

United are currently eighth in the Premier League table. Speculation continues to grow surrounding Ten Hag's future following Sir Jim Ratcliffe's proposed 25 per cent takeover.

Ratcliffe and INEOS' director of sport, Sir David Brailsford, will manage United's sporting operations and be more hands-on than the Glazer family.

Ten Hag is confident he'll still be in the Old Trafford dugout next season despite INEOS' proposed overhaul.

Per the Mirror, the 53-year-old is keen to link up with one of his former Ajax stars.

Brian Brobbey is high on Ten Hag's wishlist, although it's unlikely he'll arrive in January due to the club's finances.

Anthony Martial is likely to leave as a free agent in the summer and Brobbey is seen as the perfect candidate to challenge Rasmus Hojlund.

The 21-year-old has suitors elsewhere in the Premier League. Arsenal are said to be showing an interest in Brobbey, who was handed his Ajax debut by Ten Hag in 2020.

If he did move to United, it'd make him the fourth player who'd played under Ten Hag at Ajax.

Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez and Antony all won the Eredivisie under the Dutch coach before moving to England.

Brobbey returned to Ajax in 2022 after an ill-fated spell in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

He revealed he turned down Ten Hag's advances to join him at United.

The Netherlands international admitted: "I absolutely wanted to come back to Ajax.

"Erik also wanted to work with me again, he texted me once to see if I was open to it. But I thanked him nicely and told him I wanted to go back to Ajax.

"My friends are here, Ajax’s playing style… it just wasn’t finished yet."
