Gary Neville could be regretting his Liverpool comment that made him look foolish ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup tie.
Prior to the start of the 23/24 season, Liverpool underwent a midfield overhaul after losing the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Alex Oxalde Chamberlain and Naby Keita.
As a result, Jurgen Klopp brought in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch.

Speaking ahead of the season, former Manchester United man Neville was left unimpressed by Liverpool’s new signings.
He said: “When you look at the actual players, let's take United as an example: Fernandes, Mount, Casemiro, Eriksen. I think Klopp would swap his midfield now for United’s.”
However, that comment has not aged well as United have so far had a very disappointing season.

The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League table, 17 points adrift of Liverpool, who are only second on goal difference.
In addition, Liverpool’s new-look midfield has settled quickly, with the likes of Mac Allister and Endo impressing in recent weeks.
Klopp’s men also won the first major trophy on offer this season when they beat Chelsea at Wembley to lift the Carabao Cup.
Ahead of this weekend’s mouth-watering FA Cup tie at Old Trafford between United and Liverpool, the away team will head into the contest as the favourites to win.

This is not the first time that Neville’s comments have come back to haunt him.
Prior to the 19/20 season, the former full-back said: “I can guarantee you as clear as day, Manchester United will win again. They’ll probably win the league before Liverpool, in my opinion. And that’s not being disrespectful, they’ll probably win the league before Liverpool.”
That season, Liverpool went on to clinch their first ever Premier League title, finishing 33 points above United.
