Jose Mourinho hits out at 'fake news' after his all-time best XI is released

Jose Mourinho has claimed 'fake news' after his all-time best XI was released online.

Mourinho has had the pleasure of working with a number of high profile stars including Cristiano Ronaldo while in charge at Real Madrid.

The Portuguese coach, who currently manages Roma, also enjoyed spells at Chelsea, Inter Milan, Porto, Manchester United and Tottenham.

As a result, the 60-year-old would have a plethora of talent to choose from when picking the best combined XI of players he has worked with.

A graphic of the starting 11 Mourinho would pick surfaced on the Obi One Podcast, ahead of his interview which will reportedly air on Monday.

Chelsea dominated the team, with eight members of the starting 11 made up of former Blues players.

However, Mourinho has since revealed that he never made the team, labelling it "fake news".

Writing on Instagram, he said: "Fake news: JM’s best eleven, JM picks his best eleven… Fake news.

"I never ever did this. I always refused to do it, it is impossible for me to do it and I didn’t do it. Fake news.

"I never did and I will never do. I’ve had so many top players, but the most important thing is what those players gave to me.

"Players who gave me everything: quality, effort, blood and soul, they are all in my best eleven. All of them. That’s why I always refused to choose my best eleven.

"I love my players, I respect my players. Fake news. Please respect my history."

The graphic of the team has since been deleted, but here is how the 'fake' team looked.

Setting up in a 4-3-3 formation, three former Chelsea players were in the back line, with William Gallas, John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho all making the cut.

Javier Zanetti completed the back four, with Mourinho having worked with the Argentinian during his time at Inter Milan.

Perhaps the most interesting absentee is Sergio Ramos, who has won several accolades with both club and country.

In midfield, Mourinho had plenty of great options to choose from, having coached a number of stars including of Xabi Alonso, Deco and Wesley Sneijder, However, it was made up of Claude Makelele and former England international Frank Lampard.

Veering away from Chelsea, Mesut Ozil earned a place in the team, despite having a reportedly fractured relationship at the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo was unsurprisingly on the right-hand flank, with Eden Hazard on the left.

Through the middle was Didier Drogba, getting in ahead of Zlatan Ibrahmiovic.
