Man Utd sent stark warning by Newcastle fans over Dan Ashworth as Director of Football saga rumbles on

Dan Ashworth has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Newcastle United fans have sent Manchester United warnings about Dan Ashworth.

Back in December, it was announced that British billionaire and INEOS boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe had agreed a deal to buy a 25 per cent stake in the Old Trafford club.

It has been reported that Ratcliffe and his team will head up the football operations whilst the Glazers deal with the commercial side.

Since Ratcliffe’s arrival, his INEOS team have already lured chief executive officer Omar Berrada from rivals Manchester City.

Now, it has been reported that United are interested in Newcastle’s Ashworth as sporting director.

However, Newcastle fans have sent United warnings on social media.

One fan said: “I swear he wasn't this hyped when we signed him, now he's the second coming because he uses MS Excel.”

Another tweeted: “Yeah no other clubs have “football database” what an unbelievable phenomena that Henry Winter wrote a whole article about. The same guy who signed a €70M player with a gambling issue he had zero clue about.”

A third fan added: “His own analytics believed Newcastle could compete in the league and Champions League with Miguel Almiron on the wing.”

Someone else wrote: “Signed 2 fullbacks not played much, Tonali banned for season and Barnes missed most of season. Never filled positions we were short on last summer, that's where a DOF earns his badges, Dan didn't earn any badges last summer.”

A fifth commented: “Interesting that you said nothing of the kind when he signed for Newcastle.”

United have had a disappointing season so far after a tough start left them behind in the race for the Champions League places.

However, the Red Devils have started to turn things around having four Premier League matches in a row.

United are back in Premier League action this weekend when take host Fulham at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
