Man Utd player involved in 'furious bust-up' after humiliating decision by manager

Man Utd player involved in 'furious bust-up' after humiliating decision by manager

This could get nasty.

Andre Onana has reportedly been involved in a 'furious bust-up' with the Cameroon hierarchy after finding out he'd been dropped for Tuesday's crucial Africa Cup of Nations clash against Gambia.

The Manchester United goalkeeper has had a difficult time since arriving at Old Trafford in a £47 million transfer over the summer.

Onana has the tricky task of filling club legend David de Gea's shoes and he's found it tricky so far.

His errors in Champions League clashes against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray saw United eliminated in the group stages for the first time since 2005.

The 27-year-old has failed to settle in the Premier League, with United currently eighth and 11 points off the top four.

Onana hoped linking up with his country for AFCON would turn his form around.

He missed Cameroon's opening match of the tournament, a 1-1 draw with Guinea, to remain in England for a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

United reached an agreement with the Cameroonian FA to keep Onana in England longer than other African players. They paid £79,000 to fly him via private jet to the competition.

Onana started against Senegal in a 3-1 loss, which left Cameroon on the brink of elimination.

He was benched for their final game against Gambia, with his cousin, Nimes goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa, being restored to the starting XI. Cameroon won that game 3-2 and have qualified for the last 16.

Sport News Africa has reported that Onana was involved in a furious row with Samuel Eto'o, president of the Cameroon FA, after hearing about manager Rigobert Song's decision.

Onana and Eto'o, who were once close, argued over playing out from the back at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

It resulted in Onana temporarily stepping away from international duty.

He's played every minute of every game since moving to England, although that's set to change this weekend.

United boss Erik ten Hag is set to hand Altay Bayindir his debut against Newport County in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Bayindir joined the Red Devils from Fenerbahce over the summer and has waited patiently for his opportunity.
