Man Utd put on red alert as Xavi tells Barcelona he's 'willing to sell' two massive players

Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez is reportedly willing to offload two players in the summer.

Manchester United have been placed on red alert after it emerged Barcelona boss Xavi is willing to get rid of two players in the summer.

The Blaugrana were hammered by rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday and are currently fourth in La Liga, eight points behind Catalan neighbours and league leaders.

The pressure is mounting on Xavi and there have even been surprise links to recently sacked Jose Mourinho.

However SPORT carry details on the 43-year-old's recent conversations with the top brass.

It remains to be seen if Xavi will remain at the helm when the summer window arrives but according to the outlet, he has been outlining transfer plans already.

It's said that Xavi preferred the squad he had last season, when his side won La Liga by ten points.

The likes of Jordi Alba, Ousmane Dembele and Sergio Busquets all moved on, with Ilkay Gundogan, Joao Cancelo, Joao Felix, Oriol Romeu and Inigo Martinez coming in.

The report claims that Xavi is willing to get rid of summer signing Gundogan or Frenkie de Jong if it is what is needed to secure another deep-lying midfield player.

Gundogan signed a two-year deal with the option of a third after winning the treble with Manchester City and has played 28 times this season.

He signed on a free but the German international would likely not command a big fee given his age.

De Jong, however, is still only 26 and remains an integral player for Barca when fit.

Barca paid around £65 million for the Netherlands international in 2019 and in the summer of 2022, Manchester United courted him heavily and reportedly even agreed a fee.

However despite him being Erik ten Hag's top target, the Red Devils pivoted to Casemiro - who joined for £70 million.

If De Jong was to be available again, you would suspect United would be in for him.
