Man Utd interested in two Bayern Munich players to kick-start Sir Jim Ratcliffe revolution

Man Utd interested in two Bayern Munich players to kick-start Sir Jim Ratcliffe revolution

This would be huge.

Manchester United have reportedly discussed loan moves for two Bayern Munich players in the January transfer window.

Erik ten Hag's side sit eighth in the Premier League and are yet to make any moves this month.

Several players have left on loan, including Donny van De Beek, Jadon Sancho and Hannibal Mejbri.

Last month saw confirmation of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment after a year of speculation.

The INEOS founder is in the process of having his bid for 25 per cent of the club ratified and will oversee all footballing operations.

He's hoping to re-establish United as one of the best teams in the world after a decade of mismanagement under the Glazer family.

It's been a poor season for the Red Devils on the pitch. Summer signings underperforming and injuries to key players have left United 11 points off the top four after coming third and winning the Carabao Cup in 22/23.

Per The Athletic, Ratcliffe isn't prepared to write this season off despite those issues.

He's keen to help United qualify for next season's Champions League, as it'll help with Financial Fair Play regulations.

The tightness of numbers will explain why there has been a lack of arrivals at Old Trafford. Internally, loan moves for Bayern duo Matthijs De Ligt and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting have been mentioned.

De Ligt has fallen out of favour under Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel. He's made five starts in the Bundesliga, with Tuchel preferring the pairing of Dayot Upamecano and Kim-Min jae.

Eric Dier's arrival from Tottenham Hotspur could further limit his game time.

The Netherlands international has previously worked under Ten Hag at Ajax, reaching the Europa League final together in 2017.

Choupo-Moting is third-choice striker at the Allianz Arena behind Harry Kane and Mathys Tel.

His contract will expire in the summer and Bayern will not stand in his way if he decides to leave.

United have struggled for goals this season, with Scott McTominay's tally of five being their highest in the Premier League.Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have three each, while Rasmus Hojlund has two in his last two games.

Anthony Martial has one goal, while Antony is yet to open his account.

United return to action against Newport County in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.
