Sheikh Jassim 'sends letter of complaint to Glazers' amid Sir Jim Ratcliffe proposal

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has sent a letter of complaint to the Glazers, according to a fresh report.

Earlier this month, Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim stepped back from the Manchester United takeover process, leaving British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos Group hoping to conclude a deal for a minority stake in the club, thought to be 25 per cent.

Sheikh Jassim's offer, which valued United at more than £5billion, was thought to be the only approach for a complete takeover of the club.

However, the Qatari banker's valuation was seemingly not sufficient for the Glazers, who have owned United since 2005.

Ratcliffe and his petrochemicals company INEOS are expected to run United's football operations as part of their deal, which could be the first step in a phased takeover.

And according to a SportZone report Sheikh Jassim has reportedly struck back at the Glazer family with a letter of complaint.

While the publication has not provided details of the alleged letter, it claimed Sheihk Jassim now believes the Glazers never wanted “to sell Manchester United” and merely used the process to increase the club’s valuation and sell minority shares at a high price.

The Qatari, who had made multiple offers for United across the 11-month process, pledged a cash offer through the newly formed Nine Two foundation which would have cleared all the club’s old debt.

Indeed, Sheikh Jassim offered the Glazers almost double the market capitalisation while he had also committed to putting in another £1.4billion for the stadium and the team.

Last week, United’s stock market price was affected by Sheikh Jassim’s decision to pull out of the process, sinking some 22 per cent.
