Fabrizio Romano confirms Man Utd are discussing three forwards to help Rasmus Hojlund ahead of January transfer window

The transfer expert has named three players United are considering.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Manchester United are discussing three forwards to help Rasmus Hojlund ahead of January transfer window.

Hojlund signed for the Red Devils from Atalanta for £72 million over the summer, but the 20-year-old is yet to score a Premier League goal for his new club.

The Danish striker was benched for Anthony Martial for United's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday and was unable to turn the tides when he came on in the second half.

As a result, the Old Trafford club are reportedly looking to bring in a new forward to help Hojlund in January.

That's according to transfer expert Romano, who claimed United are discussing three names ahead of the winter transfer window.

Writing in his column for Caught Offside, the Italian explained:

“[Donyell] Malen is not happy with Dortmund, and he’s not happy to play on the wing because he wants to play as a central striker.

"United know this, but there’s also Timo Werner at Leipzig, Serhou Guirassy with a €17.5m release clause in his contract with Stuttgart – so there are multiple possibilities."

Romano also opened up on the possibility of a swap deal involving Jadon Sancho.

The 23-year-old hasn't played for United since August following a public spat with Ten Hag, which has resulted in Sancho being banished from the first-team squad.

A January exit looks likely, with Juventus and former club Borussia Dortmund thought to be interested in the winger. However, Romano has suggested a swap deal remains unlikely.

“There have been many questions on a swap deal with Jadon Sancho, but, at the moment, guys, I’m told that there is no contact between Dortmund and United, so it’s very quiet," Romano added.

"The Sancho situation is still not resolved, and so we need to wait. Let’s see if something is going to happen in January, but, as of now, Malen discussed internally – yes, swap deal – still not something concrete at the moment.”
