Who could Mason Greenwood join when he leaves Manchester United?

Who could Mason Greenwood join when he leaves Manchester United?

United have concluded their investigation into Greenwood.

Mason Greenwood will leave Manchester United by mutual consent after the club concluded its internal investigation into his behaviour.

United confirmed the news in a statement on their official club website, which you can read in full here.

It reads: "All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United.

"It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome."

Greenwood was suspended by United in January 2022 after being arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.

He was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in October.

The charges were discontinued in February, with the CPS stating that a combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses and new material that came to light meant there was 'no longer a realistic prospect of conviction'.

When he leaves Old Trafford, which clubs could Greenwood sign for? Here is a look at who has been linked with potentially signing him.

Mason Greenwood: Who could he sign for?

The 21-year-old came through United's academy and has not represented another club at senior level to this point.

The forward's contract at United expires in 2025, meaning it has two full seasons left to run. The club will now look to sell or loan out Greenwood, with their statement confirming that both parties are working together over his next move.

In March, The Athletic reported that United had rejected offers from unnamed Turkish Super Lig clubs to sign him on loan.

And in May, The Sun linked Greenwood with several clubs in Serie A, with the report claiming that Juventus were one of the clubs interested.

And Italian outlet La Republicca even claimed in July that Juve had enquired over the possibility of a loan move for Greenwood, following on from interest from Atalanta.
