‘He never stood out to me’ - Mason Mount leaves Man United teammate surprised in training

‘He never stood out to me’ - Mason Mount leaves Man United teammate surprised in training

Mason Mount joined Manchester United from Chelsea earlier in July

Mason Mount has left one of his Manchester United teammates surprised during training sessions.

Earlier in the month, it was confirmed that Mount has completed a move to United from Chelsea worth a reported £60 million.

Since joining the club, he has been involved in matches against Leeds, Lyon, Arsenal and Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old has already surprised one of his teammates despite not being at the club for long.

Young defender Alvaro Fernandez said to Spanish news outlet AS: “Mason has surprised me because he was not a player that stood out to me before when watching matches.

“But in training, you can see the quality, the technique and the ability that he has. He is very good.”

He added: “The coach is changing the team. New signings have arrived and the squad now has a new lease of life.

“Mason is a really great player, but on the pitch, he has an incredible character. And then there is Lisandro Martinez, who arrived last summer and has a level of aggression that seems crazy.”

After joining the club, Mount said: “It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career.

“Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies.”

He continued: “Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead, and am ready for the hard work expected here.

“I am hugely ambitious. I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it. I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United.”

United will be back in action on Monday as they take on German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund at the Allegiant Stadium in Nevada.
