Mason Mount's stats on his Premier League debut for Manchester United have stunned everyone

Mason Mount's stats on his Premier League debut for Manchester United have stunned everyone

They are not great.

Mason Mount made his debut for Manchester United in a 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers and his stats from the game have caused a commotion.

United’s Raphael Varane scored the only goal of the game as Erik ten Hag's men edged past Wolves to claim a crucial three points in their Premier League opener.

However, the victory was overshadowed by a controversial VAR decision after debutant Andre Onana flew out of his goal and wiped out Wolves’ Sasa Kalajdzic in injury time.

Surprisingly however the referee was not even called to his monitor.

Elsewhere, Mount, who became United's first summer signing when joining from Chelsea in a £60million deal in early July, made his competitive debut for the club in a tepid team performance.

The England international played 69 minutes of the game before being replaced by Christian Eriksen.

And the 24-year-old was among several United players who flattered to deceive at Old Trafford.

As per TalkSPORT, Mount claimed zero goals, zero assists, created zero chances, made zero crosses, won zero tackles and won zero aerial duals during his time on the pitch.

United were overpowered in midfield throughout the encounter, with Matheus Nunes and Matheus Cunha having found joy with runs through midfield. It was only the Midlands club's failure in front of goal that stopped them from claiming something from the game. Wolves had 23 shots on goal.

Indeed, Wolves will be disappointed to have not got their first point on the board. The club are without a win in nine Premier League away games (D2 L7) while they have lost each of their last five. That is their longest top-flight losing streak on the road since a run of six between September and December 2011.

On Sky Sports Gary Neville said: "I thought Wolves were absolutely fantastic tonight.

"Manchester United's midfield was non-existent, the front three didn't work hard enough in a defensive sense.

"Wolves got a new manager four days ago and there was doom and gloom about their season, but they were absolutely fantastic.

"United were outplayed and can feel fortunate that they came away with three points. They did not deserve it."
