Rio Ferdinand aims brutal dig at Harry Kane as surprise Jordan Henderson comment made

Rio Ferdinand has aimed a dig at Harry Kane while bigging up Jordan Henderson's CV.

Rio Ferdinand has aimed a brutal dig at Harry Kane while praising Jordan Henderson.

The former Manchester United defender was discussing England's Euro 2024 squad and made his case for why Henderson should still be selected by Gareth Southgate.

Henderson left Liverpool for Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq in a controversial summer switch that lasted just six months.

The 33-year-old played 19 times for Steven Gerrard's side but then his contract was mutually terminated.

Henderson has returned to European football with Ajax, signing a two-and-a-half year deal.

The ex Liverpool midfielder has already been given the captaincy after just four games, highlighting his leadership skills.

And after skippering Liverpool to multiple trophies, Ferdinand believes Henderson should be on the plane to Germany.

But in making his point, he made a brutal jibe about England skipper not yet tasting any silverware.

“I think Henderson should go I’ve got to be honest because I think he brings more than just as a player," he said on the Vibe with FIVE podcast.

“His presence, when you’re in a dressing room you need certain heads there who have experience, who know how to win, who know how to generate an environment that is conducive to winning.

“He knows how to do that, he’s been a captain of a team that has won multiple trophies, there ain’t too many in that dressing room who know how to do that. As good as Harry Kane is, he doesn’t know how to speak about winning a trophy in that dressing room.

“But in a tournament and in a team that wants to win, it’s not just about what you can do football wise, talent wise, there’s more to it. There needs to be that experience, the ability to talk, grab, push, shove, punch.

“Respect immediately before you kick a ball. Not everyone but there has to be one or two of those in that squad and Jordan Henderson is that guy for me.”

Ferdinand has also been causing a stir for claiming Arsenal star Bukayo Saka isn't "world-class".

Gunners supporters chanted at the pundit while on their flight to Porto and he even picked up the Ryanair microphone to explain his view.

He said: "Saka is a fantastic player, just not world class yet. He will be one day, just not yet,"
