The Glazers have put Manchester United up for sale since November 2022

A video of Sir Alex Ferguson talking about Manchester United owners, the Glazers has resurfaced.

Since November 2022, the Glazers have put United up for sale but as of yet, no deal has materialised.

Over the weekend, it was reported that British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is close to agreeing a minority stake in the Old Trafford club.

This comes after the news that Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and his Qatari consortium have pulled out of the race.

Over the past few years, United fans have often expressed their anger towards the Glazers as they are blamed for the club’s lack of success since Ferguson retired in 2013.

Now, a video of Ferguson talking about the Americans back in 2013 has resurfaced. You can watch the footage below.

Ferguson was told by the reporter: “In a way why you like the Glazers because they left you with control, they don’t really control the club, you do.”

The Scotsman replied: “But they’re supportive, that’s the important thing. I think you always appreciate people who support you.

“They’ve been very good, everything that I’ve asked for they’ve delivered so what can you do?”

The reporter then said: “They are capitalists and you’re certainly on the left of labour, how do you marry an admiration of raw capitalism with your politics?”

Ferguson said: “Because they’ve supported the manager, they’ve supported the club.

“The improvements they’ve made, you look at the training ground today that’s down to the Glazers, it’s probably the best training ground in Britain.”

With Ratcliffe set to become a minority stakeholder, the INEOS boss has revealed the difficulties in doing a deal with the Glazers due to the differing opinions.

In his recent book ‘Grit, Rigour & Humour: The Ineos Story’, Ratcliffe said: “They [Avram, Joel, Kevin, Bryan, Darcie and Edward, children of the late Malcolm Glazer] are all very nice, despite the press they get.

“But the club is owned equally by siblings and you can’t talk to that many siblings, really.”
