Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been convinced to make a transfer U-turn and opt to keep Man United star who was previously dubbed surplus to requirements.
Ratcliffe's footprint can already be felt at Old Trafford following his 25% acquisition of the club from the Glazers in 2024.
The British billionaire has snatched Omar Berrada from Manchester City to be the club's new CEO, and has also made progress regarding a brand new Old Trafford that is being dubbed 'the Wembley of the North'.

Ratcliffe also appears to have a say in transfer strategy, reportedly completely ruling out any sort of move for teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho, following links to Real Madrid.
There could be another player getting blacklisted from a move-away this summer despite being originally considered a sellable asset.
According to reports from the Daily Star, United midfielder Scott McTominay has convinced the club's hierarchy he is a valuable asset following his performances and output this season.

The report says that his impressive form has “ensured he is firmly back in favour”, with the Scottish international being United's joint top scorer in the Premier League with seven goals alongside Rasmus Hojlund.
Not only is McTominay place in the squad secure, he is also now considered to be a "vital part of the future” at Old Trafford by Ratcliffe.
This impressive turnaround in fortunes is reportedly due to “his performances on the pitch - and exemplary attitude off it - are exactly what is required moving forward."
McTominay currently earns a reported £60,000 but he “can expect to double his money to £120,000-a-week” due to his performances, if the reports are to be believed.

While McTominay is certainly one of the few current United players who probably deserves a new contract, the 100% increase in his wages would seem an odd decision considering the predicament the club found themselves under Ed Woodward.
