Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White used an example from Liverpool vs Chelsea to hit out at Manchester United’s winning goal.
On Wednesday night, Erik ten Hag’s men travelled to the City Ground in a bid to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a win against Forest.
The match was a tight contest and looked like it was heading to extra time but Brazilian star Casemiro headed in a Bruno Fernandes free kick in the 89th minute to seal United’s passage to the next round.

Prior to the goal being confirmed, there was a long VAR check on whether there was an offside offence, with Raphael Varane seemingly standing offside and blocking a Forest defender.
In the end, the goal was given and United sealed a much-needed 1-0 victory.
After the match, Gibbs-White took to social media to vent his frustrations about the goal.

The Forest star re-posted an image comparing United’s winning goal to Liverpool’s disallowed goal during the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
Reds captain Virgil van Dijk’s goal was ruled out for offside after replays showed midfielder Wataru Endo, who was offside when the ball was played, blocked Chelsea man Levi Colwill.
However, the only difference with the United goal was the fact that the ball arrived at the near post, with Varane appearing to stand more towards the middle of the box, which could mean the defender he blocked would not have got to the ball before Casemiro anyway.
The post by Gibbs-White has since been deleted.

Speaking after the match, Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo said: “I’m not sure about it. I didn’t clearly see the images. Speaking to the players, they said there was a block in a possible offside. They checked it. But we have had so many issues during this period with VAR and referees that let’s try to forget about it and move forward.

“It is a frustration to lose this way, in the final minute of the game after all the effort we did. That is the main frustration and disappointment of not letting our fans enjoy today because they were so supportive and noisy. We have to thank them.”
He added: “It is a joy to play here. We are going to play here again in two days’ time, so we have to move forward and go.”
United have been drawn to face Liverpool in the quarter-final, which will take place next month.
