Newcastle United summer signing Sandro Tonali has been heard trying to learn Geordie slang in an effort to fit in at his new club.
The Magpies signed Tonali from AC Milan for £55m last month in a deal which makes him the most expensive Italian footballer in history.
It’s a move seen as a real coup for Eddie Howe’s side after Tonali played a key part in Milan’s Serie A winning side of 2022 and their run to the Champions League semi-final last season.

There were question marks over whether he regretted his decision to swap the glitzy lifestyle in Milan for Tyneside after he said the gym in Milano was bigger than the one at Newcastle.
However, he has won over plenty of fans after trying to learn some of the local Geordie slang in a recent interview with JD Sports. You can watch the footage below.
Journalist Kev Lawson reposted the video on social media, in which Tonali can be heard trying to pronounce “Wey aye, man. Am clammin for me bait” which loosely translates to ‘Yes, of course, I'm hungry.’

The 23-year-old could be in line for start against Villa, with his performances in pre-season impressing manager Eddie Howe.
Speaking after the match against Rangers, he said: "I was very impressed with Sandro. I thought he was excellent. Everything we hoped he would bring, he did in that first 45 minutes.
"He was very calm and composed, and technically, he was at a very high level. He built good relationships with the players around him, and looked at home in a black-and-white shirt. It was a great start for him.
"We had a quick nod and a smile after the game. I think you could see he was enjoying himself by his body language and how he plays.

"He looked like he was enjoying himself, certainly with some of the players around him, in that first half.
"I’d be surprised if he didn’t enjoy playing that type of football, with the players that he’s with. There was a really attractive style, I thought we moved the ball really well, and he was pivotal to that."
