Football pundit and co-owner of Macclesfield FC Robbie Savage sent an emotional message to son Charlie Savage after he completed a permanent move to Reading this summer.
Charlie was a highly rated youth talent amongst the United youth, joining the club's academy at the age of five and progressing through to the first team, making his debut two years ago in December 2021.
Opportunities to earn a more regular spot have been difficult for him at United and a move away to League One side Reading may be the perfect move for his career.

Charlie's father Robbie Savage, who was a FA Youth Cup winner with the famous class of 92, shared a heartfelt message to his son upon hearing the news.
Though he was promoted to the first team, Robbie himself never made a senior appearance for United, eventually leaving the club in 1994 to sign for Crewe Alexandra.
As for son Charlie, his most recent appearance for United came in the second half against Leeds United, where he was given the captain's armband for the half.

A host of EFL clubs were rumoured to be in for his services, including the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea City and Wigan Athletic, but Charlie eventually chose to sign for Reading, signing a four-year-deal with the Royals.
Reacting to his exit from United, Robbie had some touching words to share.
"You acheived your dream , you went one better than me , you went 1 better than thousands with the same dream through desire and dedication," said Robbie.
Charlie joins a Reading side who got relegated from the EFL Championship last season, finishing third from bottom in the league standings.

As the club aims to plot it's ascent back to the Championship, youngsters like Charlie will no doubt play a major role in the future success and build his own legacy in the process.
