Fans spot crazy details in new Swansea manager’s ‘contract’ including Star Wars clause

Fans have spotted some eccentric details within Swansea manager Luke Williams' contract.

On Friday Swansea ended their long search for a new head coach by appointing Notts County boss Williams.

The 43-year-old returns to the Welsh club having previously been on Russell Martin's coaching staff there.

On the move, he told the club’s media team: "I've had experience with this club already and I know how fantastic it is.

"And when the chairman drives to your house and spends three hours in your living room [showing] passion, explaining everything he wants to achieve - it's very, very difficult to turn down. After that, I was so excited. This is the perfect move."

Williams replaces Michael Duff in the Swansea technical area after a successful spell at Notts County, who he led back to the Football League with promotion from the National League last season.

He was announced as the club’s manager with a Star Wars-themed video on social media while further pictures were released of Williams signing a mock contract.

And fans were quick to spot a series of funny details on the fake contract.

It laid out three rules. Firstly, Williams must become the "legal guardian" of mascots Cyril and Cybil Swan.

The second rule stipulates that he must agree to a "Luke Skywalker announcement video".

The final rule ensures that Williams will "provide snacks for the media team" during away matches.

Fans were quick to note and praise the details written into the gag on social media.

One said on X, formally Twitter: "The legal guardian of Cyril and Cybill Swan is the funniest part."

A second added: "Genius. More of this from football clubs please."

A third said: "This is honestly the best thing I’ve ever seen."

A fourth said: "This is bloody genius."

A fifth added: "Well played, media team. I 100% zoomed in."

Swansea have struggled this term, having sacked Duff on December 4 with the club languishing in 18th in the Championship

They are now 16th however, having taken 11 points from seven games under caretaker boss Alan Sheehan.
