Sheikh Jassim 'could launch takeover bid for Tottenham' after meeting between Daniel Levy and Qataris

Sheikh Jassim could make a shock offer to buy Tottenham Hotspur after failing to purchase Manchester United, it has been claimed.

Last week, Jassim withdrew from the race to buy United after it emerged that Sir Jim Ratcliffe's offer for a minority stake in the club was of more interest to the Glazers.

Ratcliffe's offer is believed to be in the region of £1.4 billion for a 25% stake, with a view to buying the entire club in future.

As a result, Jassim could readjust his focus to Premier League rivals Tottenham, as he looks to gain a foothold in English top-flight football.

That's according to The Mirror, who claim that the Qatari banker may choose to launch a bid for the north London club, who held talks with Qatar Sports Investment (QSI) boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi earlier this year.

In January, the Daily Mail reported that QSI's proposed takeover of Spurs was unlikely due to UEFA restrictions and their ownership of Paris Saint-Germain.

However, QSI could help Sheikh Jassim make a shock move for the club after Al-Khelaifi acted as an advisory for his compatriot's proposed plans to by United, as per The Athletic.

Jassim and his Nine Two foundation were ready to bid with £5.5bn for the Old Trafford club, with a further £1bn to be invested into stadium improvements and new signings.

Spurs, meanwhile, have no issues with infrastructure after they installed a brand new state-of-the-art £1bn stadium in 2019.

In addition, the price for the club, who currently sit top of the Premier League on goal difference, would be considerably less than Manchester United.

Jassim has also been rumoured with a move to buy Liverpool after their owners, Fenway Sports Group, admitted they were open to a full sale last November.
