Fans ruthlessly think Timo Werner has "missed" already after signing for Spurs

Timo Werner has already got fans talking following his move to Tottenham.

Fans have wasted no time in taunting Timo Werner as they think he has already 'missed' following his move to Tottenham.

Werner has returned to the Premier League after enduring a difficult spell at Chelsea, where he only scored 10 league goals.

He's joined Spurs on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season as Manchester United decided not to sign him.

The German provides cover up front, with captain Son Heung-min on international duty at the Asian Cup.

Spurs officially announced the transfer of Werner on Tuesday, with the striker taking part in a series of promotional shoots for the club's social media.

One of the videos had him pointing to Spurs' iconic cockerel at their ground, but he seemed to miss the statue which didn't go unnoticed among rival fans online.

One X user wrote: "This guy missed the point already."

A second tweeted: "Shock he missed."

A third added: "Of course he missed."

A fourth said: He missed the cockerel ffs."

Another joked: "He missed already."

Werner will be hoping to find the target should he be called upon by Ange Postecoglou when Spurs resume their league campaign on Sunday against Man United.

The 27-year-old revealed that Postecoglou was key to convincing him to sign for Spurs this month.

"I spoke with the [Spurs] manager [Ange Postecoglou] and it was a really good talk," he said.

"He gave me straight away the feeling what I need to join a club and what I want to feel when you talk to a manager.

"Also, that tactics and style, how he wants to play. For me, I thought straight away that it fits perfectly."

Werner, who won the Champions League during his spell at Stamford Bridge, added: "I hope I can be the best player I can be here," added Werner. "I can play every position up front - that's one of my strengths.

"My aim is to fight for another win in this league and also maybe for titles.

"When I joined my old club [Chelsea] I also said I wanted to be a winner and win titles. In the end we won the Champions League, so I think it should not be too bad to also win titles and to win something."
