Wrexham plot club-record transfer after promotion to League One, Ryan Reynolds isn't messing around

Wrexham could be set to make a huge statement signing following their promotion to League 1 as the club set out their transfer plan ahead of the summer window.

The Welsh side made history last week, as their sensational 6-0 victory against Forest Green Rovers secured the side's promotion to League 1 for the first time ever.

It was a spine-tingling atmosphere at the Racecourse, with fans flooding the pitch at full-time to celebrate the club's success.

This victory represents the latest milestone in their success story under Hollywood owners Reynolds and McElhenney, who took over in 2021 and have overseen back-to-back promotions.

With Wrexham making another step up in the footballing pyramid, they are understandably going to have to embark on a significant club recruitment and sources indicate they could be after a familiar foe.

According to Wrexham Insider, the club are interested in a move for Notts County forward Macaulay Langstaff.

The 27-year-old was on the club's radar last summer but a move failed to materialise.

Notts County didn't have the same fortune as Wrexham in League 2 as they sit 14th in League 2, but their season highlight was the performance of Langstaff who netted a sensational 27 league goals.

Wrexham's Hollywood owners are already known admirers of the forward, as clips from the club's Disney documentary show the pair discussing their fear for the County gunman.

“God that guy is good. He looks like he could be in Peaky Blinders,” said Reynolds in Series 2, Episode 12.

“I’m not going to enjoy watching him play,” added McElhenney.

For Wrexham to get their man they would need to exceed their current club transfer record, set at £300,000 when they signed Ollie Palmer.

With Langstaff's stellar goal-scoring record, Notts County may demand a significant fee, making a potential transfer to Wrexham a costly investment especially considering he still has three years left on his deal.

One thing is for sure, Wrexham will be aiming to push to the top of League 1 as quickly as possible and if the signature of Langstaff could go a long way to doing exactly that.
