Adam Lallana might have seen red for Liverpool last night after attacking an opposition player but the 29 year old could still appear for Jurgen Klopp's team on Sunday when they visit his old side Southampton.
Can Liverpool and Spurs play each other everyday please. First Sunday's slobberknocker gave us enough headlines to last a week and then last night Adam Lallana lost the plot in an under 23s game.
The 29 year old had been out of action for quite some time and then returned to the Liverpool first team earlier this season but his return was pretty unsuccessful and Jurgen Klopp sent him back to the under 23s to get more match fitness.
Last night a Liverpool side that included Lallana, Dominic Solanke, Danny Ings and Welsh youngster Ben Woodburn took on Spurs under 23 and after a clumsy challenge the former Saints midfielder attacked Spurs' George Marsh and earned himself a red card.

However any ban handed down, which is likely to be for three games, will only affect him in the under 23s competition and that will leave him available for the first team should Klopp decide to use him.

Of course there's still every chance that the Germany will not use the England international in the upcoming games but should he decide to rest someone then he'll know Lallana doesn't have under 23 commitments to think about.

Long term though it's likely to hamper his return to the first team with the midfield and attack of the Reds not exactly the problem when it comes to any of their poor performances.
After the match Liverpool U23 manager Neil Critchley was asked about the incident with Critchley saying, "I have never seen Adam react like that. I'd like to see the incident again. It was ironic as we were just about to bring Liam Millar on. He was actually coming off."
Jack Wilshere was in a similar situation earlier in the season when he got sent off for a challenge in an under 23s game for Arsenal against Manchester City. Lallana will be hoping he can get back to the same form Wilshere's shown since.
