Roy Keane Calls Joao Felix 'An Imposter' After Performance vs Belgium

Roy Keane ripped into Joao Felix following Portugal's elimination from Euro 2020 by Belgium, calling the Atletico Madrid forward an 'imposter' for costing £113 million.

Felix came on as a second half substitute as reigning European champions Portugal were knocked out of the last 16 of the Euros thanks to Thorgan Hazard's first half thunderbolt.

The Atletico Madrid forward, fresh from helping Diego Simeone's side win La Liga, came on for Joao Moutinho in the 56th minute but couldn't have an effect on the final score.

After the match, Keane could have criticised any number of Portugal's attacking players but took aim at the 21-year-old, calling him an imposter.

"Joao Felix when he came on, what did he do?" the Irishman ranted on ITV Sport, "The guy is an imposter.

"What is he worth £100m? You have got to hit the target and if I was Ronaldo I would be going after him in the dressing room."

Felix came on along with Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, whose impact on the tournament has been extremely limited, and the former United captain wasn't happy with the midfielder's performance either.

"Belgium were very composed at the back but Portugal showed a real lack of quality in the final third," the angry pundit added.

"Felix and Fernandes didn't really affect the game, they didn't have their shooting boots on."

Despite beating Hungary 3-0 in their opening game, Portugal did end up limping through to the knockout stages somewhat, after losing to Germany and drawing with France.

However with Cristiano Ronaldo top of the tournament scoring charts, and needing just one goal to become the all time top goal scorer in men's international football, they would have been expected to trouble the scoreline.

The Juventus forward did have a free kick saved by Thibaut Courtois but it was Raphael Guerreiro who came closest, as he hit the post in the 83rd minute, but ultimately it was Belgium who qualified to face Italy in the quarter finals.

Ronaldo finished the game by throwing the captain's armband to the ground, as fans wondered if the 36-year-old would be back in another Euros.
