Nearly 200,000 people sign petition demanding FIFA to replay France vs. Argentina

Fans want the World Cup final replayed.

Nearly 200,000 disgruntled fans have signed a petition demanding FIFA to replay the World Cup final between France and Argentina.

Last Sunday's World Cup final ended in dramatic fashion as Argentina claimed a penalty shootout victory over France.

Argentina went into the break two goals up following strikes from Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria. France left it late to send the match into extra-time as Kylian Mbappe scored a quick-fire brace, netting in the 80th and 81st minute.

The South American country regained the lead through Messi, with Mbappe cancelling out his goal two minutes from time.

Argentina then beat France 4-2 on penalties to secure their third World Cup triumph.

The defeat has left a bitter taste among French supporters as they feel hard done by during the showpiece fixture in Qatar.

A MesOpinions user has asked FIFA to replay France vs. Argentina due to the unfair award of Argentina's penalty while claiming Mbappe was fouled in the lead-up to Di Maria's goal.

The France vs. Argentina replay petition reads: "The arbitration was totally sold, there was never a penalty + fault on MBAPPE on the 2nd goal!!!

"Sign and share en masse for the match to be replayed!"

Almost 200,000 people have signed the petition demanding FIFA to run back the World Cup final.

Despite the popularity of the petition, there's no chance France vs. Argentina gets replayed.

Argentina have since paraded the World Cup in Buenos Aires to the anger of France.

That's because Emiliano Martínez was spotted carrying around a doll with Mbappe's face taped on it during the celebrations.

His actions have prompted the president of the French FA, Noel Le Graet, to write a formal letter of complaint.
